Tasting Notes : A powerful wine. The nose has a distinct aniseed note mingled with fresh blackberries, wild brambly mulberries, and ripe plums. On the palate those fruits are balanced by smooth tobacco leaf and savoury earthiness (think: olives, mushrooms, eggplant). That signature Sullivan acidity is there but in this expression it provides the structure which allows those other elements to come to the fore. The palate is quite complex, and as we sometimes have to sample our wines in haste, we think there’s lots more to get out of this one with time.
