Country: Japan
Tasting Notes: A masterclass in balance from the expert blending team at Suntory. This harmonious marriage of whiskies from Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita distilleries offers a complex nose of fresh berries and ripe tropical fruits, leading into a palate of apple tart, preserved apricots and aged cigars. The 21-year-old Hibiki offers a wonderful evolution of the style present in the well-loved 12 and 17-year-old expressions. The inclusion of mature whiskies aged in sherry butts and barrels made from rare Japanese oak, brings deep notes of assam tea, sandalwood, walnut wine and incense that are infinitely compelling.
The name Kacho Fugetsu (花鳥風月/Beauty of Japanese Nature) translates to “Flowers, Birds, Wind, and Moon”, a phrase deeply rooted in Japanese culture. It signifies an appreciation for the fleeting beauty of nature and the harmony it inspires. This philosophy is reflected in the bottle’s breathtaking design, featuring golden cranes and seasonal flora set against an elegant black lacquer-like background. Each element symbolizes longevity, prosperity, and the delicate balance of nature—principles that mirror the artistry behind Hibiki’s meticulous blending process.
Hibiki 21 Kacho Fugetsu (700ml), is a limited edition. Only 2000 bottles made.
