Region: Puglia, Italy
Varietal: Blend of Primitivo, Aglianico and Negroamaro
Tasting Notes: This wine comes from the oldest vines of a small estate called Masseria Pizzariello. A neoclassical villa dominates the scenery at the center of the estate. Hand harvested at night, with some berries dried using the appassimento method. Through strict selection, only the best and healthiest berries were chosen. After aging in barriques, a powerful, intense, dry red wine of the highest class was created. The expressive bouquet displays an incredible amount of cassis fruit with fine mint freshness, it is powerful and highly complex, with tobacco and cedarwood, black tea, and notes of tar. On the palate, vibrant acidity meets robust, ripe, and enormously juicy-fleshy fruit, again with plenty of cassis, but also red currants, sour cherries, all embedded in the finest tannins, with a delicate play in the ultra-complex and long finish.
