Region: Abruzzo, Italy
Varietal: 100%Â Montepulciano
Tasting Notes: Deep ruby red. Very ripe and concentrated red and black fruits, with a hint of balsamic vinegar and spice notes. A lush and ripe attack of dried fruit, dark berries, perhaps a sweetness of raisin, balanced by fresh fruit underneath. Full-bodied, velvety tannins and long lingering finish with hints of cocoa. Made from late harvest Montepulciano grapes. Pairs well with roasted meat, stews, barbecued meat, aged cheese and chocolate desserts.Â
Vigna Madre – Famiglia Di Carlo is one of the most respected organic wineries in Abruzzo. Founded in 1991 by the Di Carlo family, a historic dynasty of winemakers active since 1830, the winery today represents a benchmark for sustainable viticulture in Italy. Led by Giannicola Di Carlo and his sons Federico and Daniele, Vigna Madre embodies a production model defined as "Productive Humanism": a virtuous balance between man, nature, and time. The conversion to organic farming, begun in 1991—one of the first in Italy—marked the beginning of a pioneering journey that includes vegan certifications, wines without added sulfites, natural fermentation in amphorae, and ancestral methods.
